Beltronics STi Magnum vs. Beltronics STI DriverThe Bel STi Driver was Beltronics first stealth windshield mounted radar detector, which was replaced by the Bel STi Magnum.
The main difference between these two detectors is that the STi Magnum has an improved LNA (low noise amplifier) and the ramp up was improved.
Beltronics STi Magnum vs. Beltronics STiR PlusThe STi Magnum is a windshield mounted radar detector while the
STiR Plus is a remote mounted radar detector.
Also the STiR Plus includes an internal GPS and the Escort Defender photo enforcement database.
Beltronics STi Magnum vs. Escort REDLiNEBeltronics and Escort are the same company so both of these radar detectors share many of the same features and performance, however there are two main differences.
The case on the STi Magnum is magnesium, thus its name.
But the main difference is that the REDLiNE has a feature where you can segment Ka-band, transforming it to what some people call a
REDLiNE XR.
The main benefit of segmentation is that you’re radar detector will scan faster and a reduction of false alerts.
Do You Have a more comprehensive Beltronics STi Magnum Review? One of our most popular reviews is our
instant on Ka-band radar test and our
constant on K-band radar test where we review the Passport Max2, the Escort REDLiNE, the Escort Passport and the Uniden LRD950.
Now even though the STi Magnum was not included in this test, the performance would be identical to that of the REDLiNE featured in both videos.
Is the Beltronics STi Magnum Stealth?
Yes, the Bel STi Magnum is stealth to all radar detector detectors including the
Spectre RDD.
Which is the best undetectable radar detector?I would classify the Escort REDLiNE as the best stealth windshield mounted radar detector because of its segmentation feature and the Bel STiR Plus as the best remote mounted stealth radar detector.
Beltronics STi Magnum vs. Valentine 1One major difference between the STi Magnum and the
Valentine 1 is that the V1 is not stealth to radar detector detectors.
Another difference is the filtering characteristics of the Valentine One, here is what Car and Driver had to say:
“One annoyance is incessant false alarms—the Valentine’s filtering isn’t very effective. On our 22-mile loop, the V1 called out 53 threats in its most selective mode, which reduces but doesn’t eliminate X-band alerts. Turning off X-band is an involved process that you wouldn’t bother with on an interstate exit ramp. Determining what’s a cop and what’s not is left to the driver…”
Beltronics STi Magnum vs. Pro 500The Beltronics Pro 500 is a GPS enabled windshield mounted radar detector similar to the Escort 9500ix and I no longer recommend either of these radar detectors, here is why.
Over the past several years’ car manufactures have begun installing adaptive cruise control sensors into their new cars that use the same K-band frequency that police radar guns use.
And older model radar detectors like the Pro 500, the 8500x50 and the 9500ix are unable to filter out false alerts caused by these devices.
Also another problem is that police agencies have been upgrading their equipment to the newer handheld digital radar guns, which are lots harder to detect.
Because of this Escort developed a new digital signal-processing (DSP) program that is able to filter out most of these false alerts, while also enabling their newer detectors to detect these emerging threats.
The four detectors that we recommend that have this new DSP technology include the
Passport, the
Passport Max, the
Passport Max2 and the
REDLiNE.
