What is the difference between the Max and the Max2?The main difference is that the Max2 includes an internal Bluetooth chipset that enables it to connect to the Escort Live community, where it shares real time alerts with other Escort/Beltronics radar detectors, which are also connected to the Escort Live cloud.
Can I add Escort Live to my Max radar detector? Yes, however you would need to purchase an
Escort Live module to do this.
Is the Passport Max stealth to radar detector detectors such as the Spectre? No, here are the only
radar detectors that are stealth to all RDDs.
Passport Max vs. Valentine One, which is better? In January of 2014 Car and Driver did an extensive
review of the Passport Max and the V1 radar detector and here is what they had to say about the Valentine One:
“One annoyance is incessant false alarms—the Valentine’s filtering isn’t very effective. On our 22-mile loop, the V1 called out 53 threats in its most selective mode, which reduces but doesn’t eliminate X-band alerts. Turning off X-band is an involved process that you wouldn’t bother with on an interstate exit ramp. Determining what’s a cop and what’s not is left to the driver…”
And here is what they said about the Passport Max:
“Passport uses a new type of digital signal processing (DSP), which can reduce false alarms from some non-police-radar sources. Think of DSP as a pair of Bose noise-canceling headphones for radar reporting. By reliably identifying noise, the Max can focus on real police-radar threats, leading to faster and more accurate warnings.”
Is there a Passport Max Forum?Yes, the one I would recommend is www.RadarDetector.net
Passport Max vs. REDLiNE, which is better? This depends on how, where and what you drive.
The Escort REDLiNE is based on Escort’s M3 antenna design enabling it to be stealth to all radar detector detectors, including the Spectre RDD.
The REDLiNE is classified as a 4-star radar detector having 8-times the capture distance of a police radar gun.
Because of this the REDLiNE is best suited for professional drivers, drivers who live and/or frequently drive in Virginia, or drivers who do mostly highway driving.
The Passport Max and Max2 are based on the Escort M5 antenna design, placing them in the 5-star radar detector category having over 8-times the capture distance of a police radar gun.
Both the Max and Max2 also come equipped with its own internal GPS and the Escort Defender photo enforcement database and is best suited for both highway and city use.
Passport Max vs. 9500ix, which is better?A few years ago, car manufactures began installing adaptive cruise control sensors in new cars that operate on K-band, the same band police radar guns use.
And another problem, police agencies throughout the country have been upgrading to the new hand held, low power digital radar guns.
Thus, older model radar detectors such as the 8500x50 and 9500ix are unable to filter our these false alerts out and are having difficulties in alerting to these new radar guns.
Because of this Escort developed new DSP technology, integrating it into their newest radar detectors that include the Max and the Max2.
The result is a radar detector that is able to filter out most of these false alerts, while also being able to detect these new emerging threats.
Do you have any Passport Max Reviews?Yes, our two most popular are our
instant on Ka-band test and our
constant on K-band radar detector test where we test the Max2, the Escort REDLiNE, the Passport and the Uniden LRD950.
