review of the Passport Max and the V1 radar detector and here is what they had to say about the Valentine One:
“One annoyance is incessant false alarms—the Valentine’s filtering isn’t very effective. On our 22-mile loop, the V1 called out 53 threats in its most selective mode, which reduces but doesn’t eliminate X-band alerts. Passport Max vs. 9500ix, which is better?A few years ago, car manufactures began installing adaptive cruise control sensors in new cars that operate on K-band, the same band police radar guns use.
And another problem, police agencies throughout the country have been upgrading to the new hand held, low power digital radar guns.
Thus, older model radar detectors such as the 8500x50 and 9500ix are unable to filter our these false alerts out and are having difficulties in alerting to these new radar guns.
Because of this Escort developed new DSP technology, integrating it into their newest radar detectors that include the Max and the Max2.
