I ordered a Uniden R3, 31May23, and I haven't had the radar detector long enough to cover all the areas that I typically drive. So, I will let you know about its performance.
On another note, I received a UR3 from Radar Busters with a manual printed in 2019. I bought another UR3 from another retailer. It had its manual printed in 2020. Here it is June 2023.
I was demeaned by Robert for requesting how I could confirm a recently manufactured radar detector. With that, I would assume that the printed manual date is possibly the product manufacture date, or at least the same year.
I contacted Uniden & Radar Busters to learn a method to find the manufacturer date of the product WITHOUT having to open the product. Neither contact could help me locate the info I sought.
My rating reflects Robert's remarks & reluctance to help me, AND, not having purviewed all of my routine routes to test the detector.
Robert's response:
I apologize you feel "demeaned" from my answer which simply was, we have no way of knowing when a new and unopened product was manufactured as it is not indicated with the package. I had informed you that I had requested to get the manufacturing date directly from Uniden based upon the serial number as you requested. Uniden indicated to me that it was not possible, which we relayed to you.
Uniden products which are shipped are brand new and unopened and are the latest models that are available. There is a ton of Uniden product sold so this inventory is fresh.
We can not account for Uniden's packaging nor why a manual would have a slightly different date. All of this is out of our control and if Uniden can't tell us the manufacturing date based upon your information, certainly we are not able to as we are not the manufacturer.
If you are still unsatisfied you are welcome to return the product to us for a full refund. But rest assured you receive the most recent inventory that is shipped and the product inventory turn around is very quick given the popularity of the Uniden R3.
