This is my first radar detector in many years. My last radar detector was an Escort back in the 80-90s. Up till now, I didn't think I needed to one. I like  "situational awareness", to know what's around me.  This detector help me feel like I have an ESP.  So far, the Cobra has been fantastic.  I live in a large suburban area, and I expected many false alarms.  There have been only a few alerts. The feature set on this detector is far greater than it's price.  In fact, I wouldn't have purchased ANY radar detector, but the reviews raved about this one, and so far I'm impressed.
